Production of your leptin and ghrelin hormones are linked to the amount of sleep you’re getting. These two hormones by the way play a big role when trying to lose weight.
According to this research, those who get 5 – 6 hours of sleep are the people who tend to weigh the most. The reason for this is because poor eating decisions were made the following day, because of your leptin and ghrelin hormones become imbalanced…
The people who slept for 7 – 8 hours were the ones who made smarter eating decisions the following day…
“In a Chicago study, doctors measured levels of the hormones leptin and ghrelin in 12 healthy men. They also noted their hunger and appetite levels. Soon after, the men were subjected to two days of sleep deprivation followed by two days of extended sleep.”
NOTE: During this time doctors continued to monitor hormone levels, appetite, and activity to analyze the results… Here are the results…
“Those who slept less than eight hours a night not only had lower levels of leptin and higher levels of ghrelin, but they also had a higher level of body fat. What’s more, that level of body fat seemed to correlate with their sleep patterns. Specifically, those who slept the fewest hours per night weighed the most.”
