Avoid Weight Gain While Eating Out

Avoid Weight Gain At RestaurantsMany of us love going out to dinner. I personally love going out to a restaurant with my family just so we can catch up or get a break from cooking all the time. It’s nice to go out to dinner often so you can relax a little…

There are a few things you can do to avoid packing on pounds when you’re out to eat at a restaurant.

TIP 1: Drink Water or Iced Tea

So many people are accustomed to ordering soda, sweetened iced tea, or a beer. Next time you go out to eat, be sure to order water, unsweetened iced tea, or 1 glass of red wine. These are great choices when dining out.

You’ll consume a lot less sugar than you would have otherwise drinking a sugary drink. You may also add a lemon to your water to add an antioxidant effect.

(NOTE: Have your kids drink water too!)

TIP 2: Stay Away From the Bread Basket

The breadbasket is a hard habit to break but it must be avoided when it’s brought.

A lot of people recommend sending the bread basket back, however, if you’re just starting out and you’re used to eating bread with dinner, make sure to limit yourself. If you normally eat 3 – 4 pieces of bread, try just eating 1 piece.

This will drastically cut down the processed carbs you’re eating and help you lose weight. Even a small tweak like this can help you see weight loss results fast…

TIP 3: Pronto Too Go Box

This is one of my favorite things to do when I’m at a restaurant eating out. Whenever the waiter brings my food and asks if we need anything else, I say yes, can you bring over a too go box? The waiter usually says yes although I have had some waiters say, “Well, I can wrap it up for you when you’re all finished”.

I then say “no thanks, can you please bring one over now?” politely of course. They then say “yes” and I’m then able to put half the serving in a too go box.

That way I have leftovers for the next day or a snack for later. This is also a great technique because the more you have on your plat the more you eat.
