As we get older we’re always looking for the best solutions for looking our best because it gets tougher as we age. Shockingly many of us are looking in the wrong places for a long term solution.
Many large companies have influenced us to think that since we get older every year we’re prone to wrinkles, age spots, and an older look.
There are all kinds of solutions, from buying the latest and greatest wrinkle creams to getting facials, but is that really good for your skin and does it really work?
One of the main things that I believe should be looked at in greater detail is the foods we’re eating. There is mountains of evidence, which states how they can contribute to our age. Many people don’t realize that we can control the rate we age by taking care of our bodies.
How can you take better care of your body you’re wondering? Eating higher quality foods is one of the best things for controlling how quickly you age. Exercise is another way for keeping yourself looking younger than your age.
Here are 3 foods / ingredients you should always avoid to look younger than you really are.
1. Wheat Bread
Breads and processed carbohydrates in specific are one of the worst offenders for aging. They rapidly increase the rate you age. Many of us have been led to believe that wheat bread is a “healthy whole grain” that should be eaten to prevent heart disease and to stay healthy.
Unfortunately it’s quite the opposite. Wheat bread is one of the worst things you can put into your body because it spikes your blood sugar levels to insane heights. Wheat bread is also referred to being worse than eating a candy bar or a bowl of ice cream.
2. Processed Sugars
Sugar is another enemy of aging and fat gain. Sugar is lurking around in all kinds of foods. These foods include flavored yogurts, low fat foods, condiments such as ketchup, pickles, and the list goes on and on. Just be sure to check the food label next time you’re at the store.
To avoid processed foods stick to eating 1 ingredient foods that are natural. These foods include fruits and vegetables, lean meats, avocados, and nuts and seeds.
3. Junk Food
Junk food is not the number one processed food that ages us quickest, but it’s in the top 3. Just because something says “organic” doesn’t mean it’s healthy for you. I was recently with my sister at the grocery store and as we were walking down the aisles, she asked if an organic milk chocolate ice cream sauce was healthy to eat.
I told her to look at the ingredients label to see. She said, “organic sugar, organic cane juice, organic cane sugar, etc.” I told her that the problem with this chocolate sauce is that it would spike her blood sugar levels causing her to gain fat and age faster because of the sugar content.
A rule of thumb to keep in mind is that… “If a food (carbohydrate) increases your blood sugar then it will age you faster”.
Make sure you stay as far away as possible from processed foods to maintain a healthier, younger looking you.
